16 large paintings by Bjarne Melgaard, is stopped at customs at the Gardermoen airport. Customs Administration believes the pictures can not be classified as works of art, despite the fact that Melgaard is one of Norway’s most “famous” contemporary artists.
And they ask Melgaard to pay 1.3 million in VAT to gain access to their photos.
– I think it’s totally insane that it shall enter some conservative forces and describe what is art or not, when they do not have competent jurisdiction Melgaard said to NRK…
